; c. C! a( {8 T2 d, dIt It is not an unusual phenomenon for many countries to see a constant rise in the number of senior citizens throughout the last decades, In my view, it is more of a negative thing than positive for the mounting medical costs and the weakened productivity of the aged.
7 a1 u/ t- W8 d" y5 |. ~4 W, O1 rIt is obvious that when people reach a certain age, their vitality and energy are not as abundant as before. It is very likely they would not be able to act as efficiently as they once did at their work and thus undermine the productivity of the whole company if they still remain in those posts. In a broad sense, if the proportion of the elderly reaches a point where it exceeds the number of young and middle-aged put together, then it will be bound to lead to serious problems. Metaphorically, in this situation, the structure of the society is just like a pyramid with the old people siting at the bottom, the young standing at the top and the middle-aged lying in the middle where the pressure is strongest. This is because the whole country's growth is relied on a smalll portion of the society to generate productivity. No longer being viewed as productive, the old will become the burben of the society because they fail to contribute to the society.* A3 J  l. S% I9 c: t0 _* X
Another negative thing that large number of aged people in a society could result in is the potentially rising medical bills. It should be noticed that old age is always accompanied with a mixed variety of diseases such diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, high blood pressure, migrain, to name just a few. Some of these medical conditions are chronic that requires constant nessinary medical care. And that could generate a huge amount of cost including regular check-up fee, medicine cost, and in critical conditions, operation cost. $ p) E: f! m" b/ j4 ^9 W2 L7 ]
Explicitly stated above are my strong argument for the viewing the aging problem as a negative thing in that the elderly undermine the productivity and potentially add up the medical bills.
