Living in a country where you have to speak a foreign language can cause serious social problems, as well as practical problems. |
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? |
One of the biggest challenges living in a foreign country is that youhave to speak a new language. Some people concern that it is likely to lead toserious social problems and practical problems. I hate to admit there ispossibility, but the ability to adapting to a different life should not beunderestimated. Communication is necessary in life and the language as the toll shouldbe well used. If you can't speak clearly and fluently with other foreigners, itwill take way much of you time to order food, pay bills and ask for help, etc.The routines in life can be difficult. You may find yourself confined in yourapartment and unable to reach out. However, life could be easier when you get used to it. It wouldn't takelong to get familiar with daily conversations and respond quickly. One relativeof mine, who couldn't speak a single English word, moved to American with herson. She felt difficult at first, but she has been able to live by herselfwithin three months. As for the social life, it's not the talks that bringpeople together. Teenagers can be friends after they play sports once, eventhough they can only shout some basketball items to each other. There is nodoubt that language still matters for deeper communications, but common interestcan get people from different countries enjoy the time together. There are many cases that people have succeeded in foreign countries. Itend to believe that there will be more and more as long as they stay positiveand keep interacting with the outside world.
